In der Schweiz gelten laut Tierschutzverordnung von 2008 Mindestanforderungen für die Haltung von Tigerpythons. Das kantonale Veterinäramt stellt Haltebewilligungen aus und führt periodische Kontrollen bei Haltern durch.cite-ref-ch-tierschutz-51-0[51]

In Deutschland gilt in acht Bundesländern ein Gefahrenabwehrrecht für sehr groß werdende Riesenschlangen. Die Haltung von Tigerpythons ist dort genehmigungspflichtig.cite-ref-bellosa-39-6[39]

In Österreich unterliegt die Tigerpythonhaltung gemäß Tierschutzgesetz von 2004 (§ 25)cite-ref-a-tierschutz-52-0[52] einer Meldepflicht und der 2. Tierhaltungsverordnung von 2004cite-ref-a-tierhaltung-53-0[53] Mindestanforderungen. Darüber hinaus herrschen bundeslandspezifische sicherheitspolizeiliche Regelungen. So ist die private Haltung des Dunklen Tigerpythons oder beider Unterarten in gewissen Bundesländern verboten.
